Sandu Liberman Attributed Oil Painting, Two Boys Smoking, Signed, Framed
Oil painting attributed to Romanian-Israeli artist Sandu Liberman (1923–1977), showing two mischievous boys in caps, one with a cigarette, painted in blue, orange, red, and khaki against a purple and lilac background. Liberman was born in Iași, Romania, served as an official portrait artist there, and settled in Israel in 1962.
The painting is signed "Sandu Liberman" in white paint at lower right. The surface has heavy, raised brush and palette-knife work with canvas weave visible in thinner areas, so this is paint on canvas, not a print. Liberman's "Two Boys Smoking" image is also well known as a pencil-signed lithograph, and we have not authenticated this painting, so we offer it as attributed to Sandu Liberman. Questions are welcome before purchase.
